Cirencester Primary School

Staff

Mrs S Hooper - This is my second year teaching at Cirencester Primary School and I love working with such a strong and caring team of teachers.

After studying for an Art and Art History degree I started working as an art teacher in London and loved every second of it. I completed a PGCE and moved to Shropshire where I taught for nine years. My family and I relocated to Gloucestershire, and after taking two years out to be a full time mum, I returned to teaching three years ago.

Working in Early Years is enormous fun. Starting school is such a special time for children and it is a joy to see children thrive in our creative learning environment. There is never a dull moment in Reception; the children love getting stuck in, and together with the rest of the EYFS team I endeavour to make every learning experience rich and purposeful. In my free time I enjoy painting, running and spending time with my family at home.

Mrs A McKillop - I was born on the west coast of Scotland and relocated to a small village outside of Cirencester in August 2010 with my husband and four sons. It was at this point that I started helping out at Cirencester Primary School as a parent helper in Reception class where my twin sons had recently joined. I followed them into Year 1 and enjoyed being with the children in the class, helping them with reading, writing and maths work as well as other fun activities. After completing a qualification in Assisting Teaching and Learning at the local college, joined the staff of CPS as a Teaching Assistant in Early Years in March 2012.

I really enjoy working with the children, watching them take their first steps into Reception class in September then grow in confidence through the year, being able to teach them something new and watching the 'twinkle' in their eyes when they understand and seeing how proud they look. Listening to the children whilst they play is a pleasure – their imaginations make me smile and laugh!
