Nurture Support

Coronavirus support.

Social stories are a really useful tool to help children have a better understanding on things that are happening around them.

At Cirencester primary school we have a quiet, safe environment within School where children who need extra support outside the classroom can come if they require a 1-2-1 chat or just somewhere to re-gather their thoughts.

Some Children attend regular sessions in the nurture room for specific reason such as;

  • Friendship difficulties
  • Quiet, shy, withdrawn
  • Find it hard to listen to others or join in.
  • Find it difficult to settle into class.
  • Low self esteem
  • Bereavement, family issues or a family break up.
  • SEN difficulties
  • Behaviour difficulties

How will having nurture time help my child?

It will boost confidence and self-esteem, providing children with the extra help can improve their social skills and independence. Some children need extra support in understanding their emotions and the strategies that are required when dealing with certain situations.

Also, It's important for a child to feel safe within school, and have a person that they trust if they need to talk to someone outside of home.

Lunch time club

I currently run a lunch time club for all my children who are part of the nurture programme. This is on a Tuesday and Thursday lunchtime. Children can attend if they wish too.

I am available to talk to any parents who would like to ask further questions, I am always happy to help.

Please feel free to contact me via email on or you can speak to your child's class teacher who will happily pass on any messages you may have.

I am also available via the school office.
