Governor Area
Cirencester Primary School is a maintained school within Gloucestershire County Council, governed by a board of Governors. The Governing Body has three core functions:
- Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction;
- Holding the head teacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils, and the performance management of staff; and
- Overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent.
As per our Instrument of Government, our Governing Body is intended to be made up of 12 individuals: 2 parent governors; 1 Local Authority (LA) Governor (nominated by the LA but appointed by the governing body); 1 staff governor; the Head Teacher and 7 co-opted governors, some of which are also parents.
