Safeguarding & Pastoral Support

Safeguarding

Cirencester Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and expects all staff, and volunteers, to share the same commitment.  We do this by:

  • Providing a safe environment
  • Following safer recruitment processes
  • Identifying children and young people who are suffering or likely to suffer significant harm and taking appropriate action

We are dedicated to working closely with parents and carers to provide the right support when they need it most, enabling all of our pupils to achieve the best possible outcomes.

If you would like to talk to us about any concerns, our safeguarding contacts are:

  • Mrs C. Baggus - Designated Safeguarding Lead: ceribaggus@cirencester-pri.gloucs.sch.uk
  • Mrs M Miles - Deputy DSL & Head Teacher: head@cirencester-pri.gloucs.sch.uk
  • Mr N Dowler - Chair of Governors and Designated Safeguarding Governor: chair@cirencester-pri.gloucs.sch.uk

Nurture & Pastoral Support

At Cirencester primary school we have a quiet, safe environment within School where children who need extra support outside the classroom can come if they require a 1-2-1 chat or just somewhere to re-gather their thoughts.

Some Children attend regular sessions in the nurture room for specific reason such as;

  • Friendship difficulties
  • Quiet, shy, withdrawn
  • Find it hard to listen to others or join in.
  • Find it difficult to settle into class.
  • Low self esteem
  • Bereavement, family issues or a family break up.
  • SEN difficulties
  • Behaviour difficulties

How will having nurture time help my child?

It will boost confidence and self-esteem, providing children with the extra help can improve their social skills and independence. Some children need extra support in understanding their emotions and the strategies that are required when dealing with certain situations.

Also, It's important for a child to feel safe within school, and have a person that they trust if they need to talk to someone outside of home.
