Sticky Knowledge

To help support pupils to retain learning, teachers and subject leaders have identified 'Sticky knowledge' for each foundation subject. This 'sticky knowledge' is the key knowledge and skills which are essential for pupils to transfer into their long-term memories. This is shared with parents and pupils at the beginning of each half-term and referred to regularly within lessons.

To support pupils in retaining this key information, teachers will provide pupils with regular opportunities to revisit and recall this key information at different points in time. We have Three Assessment Orbits for Foundation Subjects:

-Orbit one, Review and Connect (each lesson 5 mins)

-Orbit two, Think and Link (every 3–4 weeks, 5–10 mins)

-Orbit three, Checkpoint Challenge (end of the unit, 10-20 mins)
