Welcome to our Governors' section.
The Governing Body has three core functions:
As per our Instrument of Government our Governing Body is intended to be made up of 12 individuals: 2 parent governors; 1 Local Authority (LA) Governor (nominated by the LA but appointed by the governing body); 1 staff governor; the Head Teacher and 7 co-opted governors, some of which are also parents.
Have you ever considered becoming a Governor of CPS ? The Governing Board currently have several vacancies for Governors and would be delighted to welcome new members. This is an opportunity to get to know the running of the school better and to influence its future direction. So if you are a parent or a relative of a child or perhaps you have friends who may be interested please get in touch with the school and the Chair will contact you to have a chat. The Governors would welcome representatives from all year groups and would like to see a Governing Board that truly reflects the diversity of the children at the school.
Nic Dowler - Local Authority Governor - Chair of Governors and Resources Committee
I have had a house in the area for more than 10 years and am now retired following a 30 year career in banking. Being involved in business has taught me the critical importance of having a good all round education and, importantly, the things you learn in your early year stay with you forever and I would love to assist the school and its pupils achieve their best. Outside of work I am a passionate supporter of Gloucester rugby.
Steve Colledge - Co-opted Governor - Curriculum Committee Chair and Vice Chair of Governors
I have served on the Governing Body of several schools over time and bring with me a background of experience in education and school improvement. The opportunity to join the Governing Body at Cirencester Primary School gives me the chance again to support the work of a school in the town where I live, having moved to Cirencester in 1991 to be Deputy Headteacher at Cirencester Kingshill School. I moved on to be a Headteacher in two secondary schools and finally held a senior post in a primary-secondary multi-academy trust.
Mikey Ezewudo - Co-opted Governor
I moved to Cirencester in 2013 when I commenced my role in the UK’s Electrical Power Industry after my stint in the Maintenance Department at Honda UK.
Coming from an academic background with precocious siblings and our widowed mum being a teacher for 35yrs / late Dad being an accountant in the Electrical power industry until he died has really inspired me to give back my knowledge to academic growth in youths, the futures of our tomorrow.
Having studied in various countries including my Masters Degree at Malardalens University Sweden, an embodiment of Diversity, gives me an insight of what I can bring on board to the higher echelons of my local school CPS, which has remarkable policies and fairness procedures plus the greatest grassroots diversity in Cirencester.
Clare Hawke - Parent Governor
I have lived in Cirencester all my life and attended Cirencester Primary myself. I have worked within the housing sector since leaving college and I was also the Youth Initiative Officer for Cirencester Town Council for 11 years. I am looking forward to supporting the school and being a part its growth.
Rhys Perry - Co-opted Governor
I moved to Cirencester in 2018, and am pleased to give back to my local community through my role as a governor for Cirencester Primary School. My professional work is in the research funding sector, and from this I bring experience of making strategic decisions, and bringing a mindset of fairness and inclusivity. As a governor I am interested in providing a school environment where all children are able to enjoy their school experience, identify their strengths, and get a positive start in their education.
Jordon Barnett - Co-opted Governor
As a Cirencester resident, I am pleased to be able to serve on the school’s governing body. With a professional background in both data and business analysis, I hope to bring a helpful perspective to the educational environment. My experience in analysing trends and optimising strategies allows me to contribute to the school’s mission of providing exceptional education. I am passionate about harnessing data-driven insights to enhance learning outcomes and operational efficiency. As a governor, my hope is to ensure that our school provides an environment where every child can thrive and reach their full potential.
Jess Green - Parent Governor
Lawrence Nyama - Co-opted Governor
I came to Cirencester in July 2023 and I have a deep-rooted passion for serving the community and transforming lives through education. Academically, I hold a Bachelor of Laws Honours degree( LLBS) with the University of Zimbabwe coupled with 10 years of private practice experience. This will help me contribute my knowledge in legal matters, particularly in administrative law and dispute resolution mechanisms. This expertise is instrumental in navigating complex systems and ensuring fairness and transparency I also hold a Master’s degree in Child Rights and Childhood Studies with Africa University. Equipped with a profound understanding of the rights and needs of children, I will advocate for creation of educational environments that are not only legally sound but also deeply supportive of children’s welfare and development as the learners are the future of our society. I believe education, as a transformative force, improves the well-being of all, if we ensure that our schools not only educate but also shape individuals into active and engaged citizens. Conclusively, I am not just a school governor but a passionate advocate for community empowerment, educational excellence and social transformation. Commitment to these values is inherent within me and continues to inspire me.
Harriet Wallis - Co-opted Governor
I moved to Cirencester in 2018 and now have two children, one of whom is at Cirencester Primary School. I have a sales and commercial background and I look forward to using my skills acquired at work to help make CPS a place where children can thrive academically and socially.
Governing Body
The governing body meets six times per year in the evenings at school, governors are also requested to serve on at least one committee. We have two committees:
Curriculum & Standards – meets six times per year during school hours
Resources – meets three times per year in the evening
Governors also support the school and gather knowledge by acting as links between the governing body and the subject leads, this encourages governors to spend time in school. If you wish to contact any governor please do so by leaving a message at school or by contacting the Clerk.
Minutes
The minutes of the Governing Body meetings are available in school. If you wish to view these documents please contact the Clerk to the Governors by emailing
